Plain English. No legal jargon.
Does Voonza read all my emails?
Voonza never browses your inbox. When you choose to connect Gmail, Voonza receives only the emails Google forwards to it based on your permission — and even then, only processes emails that appear to be from your child's school. Personal emails, work emails, shopping, banking — none of that is ever seen, stored, or processed. You're in control: you can disconnect Gmail at any time from Settings and Voonza immediately loses all access.
Occasionally an email from a non-school sender may be incorrectly identified as school-related and appear in your School Hub. If this happens, you can dismiss it with one tap. We continuously improve the filter — your feedback makes it smarter for every family.
Does Voonza store my emails?
No email content is ever stored. When a school email arrives, Voonza extracts only the structured facts — a date, a deadline, an event name — and stores that summary. The email itself is discarded immediately. Your inbox remains entirely in Gmail, untouched.
Do I have to connect Gmail?
Gmail connection is completely optional and always your choice. Activities, driving coordination, reminders, documents, and the AI assistant all work without it. Connecting Gmail simply adds automatic school email detection on top — but you decide if and when to enable it, and you can turn it off at any time.
Is my Gmail password shared with Voonza?
Your Gmail password never touches Voonza. Google's OAuth system handles authentication entirely on Google's side — Voonza only receives a limited access token that you can revoke at any time from your Google account settings. This is the same secure standard used by apps like Calendly, Zoom, and Slack.
Does my family's data get used to train AI?
Never. Your family's information — your children's names, schedules, school emails, activities — is yours alone. It is never used to train AI models, never shared with Anthropic (our AI provider) for training purposes, and never contributed to any dataset. Each query is processed and discarded.
Does "public AI" mean my data becomes public?
No — this is an important distinction. Consumer AI products like ChatGPT may use conversations for training. Voonza uses private API access with data processing agreements that explicitly prohibit training use. Your family's data is processed to answer your question and then discarded. It never becomes part of any public model or dataset.
Who can see my family's data?
Only the people you explicitly invite to your Voonza account. Voonza staff have no access to your family's data. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never passed to third parties for any marketing purpose. What happens in your family stays in your family.
How is my data protected?
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Your family's data is stored in an isolated partition — row-level security policies make it technically impossible for any other user or account to access your family's information, even accidentally.
Is Voonza certified or audited?
Yes. Voonza has completed Google's CASA Tier 2 security assessment — an independent security audit required specifically for apps that connect to Gmail. Reviewers examined our encryption, authentication, data handling, and access controls. Passing this assessment is Google's own seal of approval for how we handle your data.
What if I want to delete my data?
Your data is yours to delete at any time. From Settings you can permanently delete your account and all associated data. We complete deletion within 30 days. There are no retention clauses, no "we may keep anonymized data" carve-outs — when you delete, it's gone.
Will Voonza text me without permission?
Never. SMS is opt-in only — you choose to enable it during setup by checking a consent box, and you can turn it off at any time from Settings or by replying STOP to any message. No opt-in means no messages, ever.
Is my phone number shared with anyone?
Your phone number is never sold or shared with any third party or affiliate for marketing purposes. Twilio, our SMS delivery provider, receives your number solely to transmit messages you've opted into — nothing else.
Who built Voonza?
Voonza is built by Synthecore Ventures Corp., based in Westport, CT. We're parents ourselves — Voonza exists because we needed it for our own kids and couldn't find anything that actually worked the way a family needs it to.
