1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly when creating an account and using Voonza:

• Account information: Your name, email address, and password (or authentication via Google OAuth).
• Family information: Names, ages, schools, and other details you enter about your children and family members.
• Activity and schedule data: Activities, appointments, reminders, driving schedules, and other calendar information you add.
• Financial information: Payment descriptions, amounts, and due dates you log for tracking purposes. We do not collect or store credit card numbers or banking information.
• Documents: Metadata about documents you store (type, expiry dates, notes). File contents are stored securely with limited access.
• Email integrations: If you connect your email account, we access school-related emails to extract relevant information. We do not read, store, or share personal email content beyond what you explicitly authorize.

We also automatically collect certain technical information when you use Voonza, including IP address, browser type, device information, and usage patterns. This helps us improve the service.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Voonza service
• Generate reminders, alerts, and proactive suggestions relevant to your family
• Parse connected email accounts to identify school-related events and action items
• Coordinate between family members (parents/partners) within the same account
• Send important service notifications and updates
• Improve and develop new features based on aggregate usage patterns
• Respond to support requests and communicate with you
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

We do not use your family's data to train general AI models, serve advertisements, or build profiles for third-party marketing.

3. Information sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Within your family account: Information you enter is shared between parents/partners you invite to your Voonza account, as intended.
• Service providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate Voonza, including Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services and are bound by data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of our users or the public.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this occurs.

We never share your children's information with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Children's privacy

Voonza is a service for parents and guardians. Our direct users are adults. While parents enter information about their children into the platform, Voonza does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Parents control all information entered about their children and may delete it at any time by contacting us or through their account settings. Children's information is used solely to provide the family management features parents have requested.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@voonza.com and we will delete it promptly.

5. Data security

We take the security of your family's data seriously. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS
• Encryption of data at rest in our database
• Row-level security policies ensuring each family can only access their own data
• Regular security reviews of our infrastructure and code
• Secure authentication including support for Google OAuth

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to security@voonza.com.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

You may request deletion of specific data at any time by contacting privacy@voonza.com.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data including:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Objection: Object to certain processing of your data

8. SMS Communications

Voonza may send SMS text messages to the mobile number you provide during account setup. These messages include driving reminders, activity pickup alerts, homework notifications, and other family management alerts relevant to your account.

By providing your mobile number and checking the opt-in box during onboarding at voonza.com, you consent to receive these SMS messages. SMS is only sent to users who actively opt in. You may opt out at any time by:

• Replying STOP to any SMS message from Voonza
• Updating your notification preferences in Settings within the app

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your family's activity schedule. For help, reply HELP to any message or contact us at support@voonza.com.

Your mobile number is never sold or shared with affiliates or third parties for marketing purposes. SMS delivery is powered by Twilio, our messaging service provider, which processes your phone number only as necessary to transmit messages.

9. Cookies

Voonza uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. We use:

• Essential cookies: Required for authentication and basic functionality. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: Help us understand how the service is used so we can improve it. You may opt out.

We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with third-party advertisers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice in the application before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of Voonza after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
